The future of fishing is in our hands. The IGFA Endowment will protect the future of our organization and our sport. One of the strategic goals of our Campaign for Game Fish Conservation is to create an ever-expanding pool of endowed monies that will be maintained in perpetuity for many generations to come. Over the long haul, the endowment may become the IGFA’s best guarantee for the continued success of its education and conservation activities. By definition, an endowment is a safeguarded collection of donated monies which are conservatively grown, segregated from a non-profit’s operating accounts, and designed to throw off a modest cash flow (typically 5% per year) to be used for the designated projects of a non-profit organization.*
In addition to our current education and conservation projects, these are a few of the new initiatives that the endowment will support:
• Expanding the IGFA’s game fish data gathering capabilities and technologies.
• Making the E.K. Harry Library resources more accessible to anglers and fisheries managers around the world via internet technology.
• Establishing more formal relationships with scientific institutions to encourage research and much needed data collection.
• Utilizing the IGFA Committee of International Representatives to establish a distance learning program for children focusing on game fish and their habitats.
