Day/Evening Programs

Scout Patch Programs

Picture show of scouts at weekend educational programs

Enjoy a 2-hour hands-on patch program. Each Scout will receive an IGFA Patch and have time in the museum after the program. Choose from "Fantastic Fishing Fun" or Wonderful Wetlands Adventure". Programs are available Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 am - 10:30 am.

Wonderful Wetlands Adventure

Objective:

Learn about the aquatic ecosystem by exploring our wetlands. Use hands-on activities to identify invertebrates and learn about our fragile ecosystems.

Agenda:

  1. Orientation
  2. Wetlands
    Tour the wetlands and collect water samples.
  3. Learning Center
    Investigate water samples under the microscope.
    Play the "Cookie Resource" game.
    "Put It On Your Bill" to learn about feeding strategies of birds.
  4. Theater
    Enjoy our cinematic adventure film "Journeys".
  5. Museum Exploration
    Spend time on your own to enjoy the museum and try the interactive fishing simulators. Scouts must be accompanied by a chaperone.

Fishing Fun

Objective:

Scouts will learn about different species of fish and their environments, learn to distinguish ethical fishing techniques and compare and contrast a variety of fishing equipment.

Agenda:

  1. Orientation
  2. Great Hall
    Select a fish of interest and make a rubbing.
  3. Fish Gallery
    Research your selected fish on interactive computers.
  4. Catch Gallery
    Practice your fishing techniques on our interactive fishing simulators.
  5. Learning Center
    Learn about fishing equipment, techniques and ethics.
    Participate in "Marshmallow Mouths" (a fish feeding strategy game).
  6. Theater
    Enjoy our cinematic adventure film "Journeys".
  7. Museum Exploration
    Spend time on your own to explore the museum. Scouts must be accompanied by a chaperone.
General Information
Cost: Minimum fee $90.00
(Includes 15 participants. Additional participants - $6.00 each.)
Class Size: 15-30 scouts
Chaperones: Minimum 2 chaperones required (these chaperones are in addition to the original 15 participants). Additional chaperone required with 20 or more participants.
Time Frame: 2 hour program
Free visit to the museum following the program.
Availability: Saturday and Sunday
8:30am-10:30am


Overnights are available for any group of 50 or more for fun and exciting activities!

Scout Visits

Group visits are also offered if you would like to bring your scouts
on a self-guided tour.
 
There are many badge requirements that can be completed by just visiting and exploring the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum!

Worksheets are available in the lobby to mark the requirements as you explore the museum and are FREE of charge with your paid admission!
